How it works›

Ordinary income only. Uses the selected year’s federal brackets and deduction. Enter only credits and adjustments you qualify for. The credit-per-dependent amount preserves saved assumptions and is not a statutory child credit calculation. Capital gains rates, AMT, NIIT, state taxes, senior deductions and credit phaseouts are excluded.

Payroll scope. Quick mode treats all income as one person’s wages. Social Security uses that year’s wage base; Medicare includes the 0.9% additional tax at filing-status thresholds (IRS Topic 560). Joint wages from two earners require separate payroll calculations. Detailed mode excludes payroll tax; periodic amounts divide modeled annual tax and are not a W-4 withholding calculation.
